1.Introduction to Plywood

Plywood is a sheet material made by pressing thin veneers (also known as laminated boards) together with adhesive. It typically uses an odd number of veneer layers, with the grain direction of adjacent veneers perpendicular to each other. Due to its cross-grain structure, plywood possesses high strength, stability, and resistance to bending, tension, and torsion. It is widely used in furniture manufacturing, construction, interior decoration, and packaging.

2.Plywood manufacturing and characteristics

Manufacturing Process: Wood is rotary-cut or sliced into veneers, then coated with adhesive. These veneers are stacked layer by layer, ensuring the grain direction of adjacent layers is perpendicular to each other. Finally, they are pressed together under high temperature and pressure.

Main Adhesives:Commonly used adhesives include phenolic resin, urea-formaldehyde resin, and melamine resin. Phenolic resin is suitable for outdoor and marine applications, while urea-formaldehyde resin is suitable for indoor use.

Structure: An odd number of veneer layers is typically used, such as three-layer, five-layer, or seven-layer veneers. The outermost layer is the face veneer, followed by the backing veneer, and the middle layer is the core veneer.
